GPS (Getting to Primary Sources): Navigating Online Research: Evaluating Primary Sources

This guide provides tools and strategies for finding, evaluating, and using primary resources in the classroom.

Search Tips

  • Rather than searching across all collections, search individual collections.
  • Narrow your search using options on your results page.
  • The “Explore” option lets you begin your search focusing on a place, time period, or format (photographs, Bible records, etc.)

You've found something! What now?

  • You can print items that you find.
  • You can also download images and save them to your computer.
  • When you save an item, you can select what size image you want.
  • In cases where there’s a transcript, you can switch back and forth between the image and text.
