Professional Titles for Library Staff: Introduction

This pilot project will assist the State Library in determining how a professional collection would work as a service to library staff in the state. 

• Pilot program titles cover general librarianship, cataloging, weeding, personal communication, leadership, etc., as well as a few kits
• Items circulate 8 weeks & take reserves
• Titles are checked out to institutional accounts for each library system (see institutional account information to the right and below)

Titles in the collection are listed on the next page.  Hover your mouse over the title's link to read a short annotation.  

To place a hold on a title:

• Clicking the title link takes you to the item's catalog record
• Click the "Place hold" link on the right
• Type in your account's information in the form
• Leave the default pick up location as "Professional Development Collection"
• Inform your library's staff contact that you've requested the item
• NOTE: StarLab kits must use this request form

Receiving/returning your item

• If you are in a Cardinal library, your item will be routed through normal resource sharing; for non-Cardinal libraries, your item will be shipped via UPS or US Postal Service
• The item will arrive checked out to your institution; no need for any further action, just route to the correct staff member
• Leave the book strap on the book and make sure it is returned with the item by the due date on the book strap
