About This Guide

undefined

More than 80,000 state employees work diligently for the State of North Carolina in 178 different state agencies. This one-stop guide for North Carolina state employees contains resources covering history, science, health, technology, and legislative and law topics, as well as historical and current newspaper databases. North Carolina state employees can access all resources mentioned in this guide from any location, making it an excellent guide to reference when on-site at work, teleworking from home, or from wherever your work takes you. This guide, while not comprehensive, is a compilation of several notable resources cultivated by the Government & Heritage Library (GHL) staff to help you do your work to the best of your ability from any location.

Please note that several of the resources mentioned in this guide will require a library card for access. Resources available through NC LIVE can be accessed with either a North Carolina local library card or a State Library of North Carolina (SLNC) library card. Some resources, however, are only accessible using a SLNC library card. If a local library card or SLNC library card is needed to access a particular resource, a notation will appear in this guide below the name of the resource explaining what type of card is needed for access. All North Carolina state employees are eligible to register for a free SLNC library card! Information on how to apply for a library card can be found on the State Library's website at the following link: https://statelibrary.ncdcr.gov/ghl/services/library-card. Under the heading "How do I get a card?" you will find a link to the application itself. Feel free to contact Reference Services at (919) 814-6790 or slnc.reference@ncdcr.gov with any questions you may have about SLNC library cards.
