Digital Collections

Digital Public Library of America - DPLA provides access to millions of photographs, manuscripts, books, and other items from libraries, archives, and museums across the United States. 

Internet Archive - The Internet Archive is an expansive digital library with free access to millions of books, audio records, videos, websites, and more. It includes both primary and secondary source materials. 

Library of Congress - The LOC's digital collections feature millions of digitized items including photographs, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, and sound recordings. 

National Archives - The National Archives' digital collection is a vast repository of primary sources including historical documents, photographs, maps, and government records.

Newspapers

Chronicling America - Historic American Newspapers from the Library of Congress. 

Indigenous Newspapers in North America - Requires SLNC Government and Heritage Library Card 

Additional newspapers are available via the State Library of North Carolina. Some newspaper databases require users to have an SLNC Government & Heritage Library card, which is free and available to any NC resident.
